We’re excited to enjoy the trails with you in 2025! With races & beyond on tap, here’s the full rundown (pun!) on what’s coming up with Gnar Runners:
February:
Saturdays – Quad Rock Training Runs. Fort Collins area. Group runs with a variety of distance options (typically 7-25mi) building up to the Quad Rock 50/25mi on May 10; typically at Horsetooth Mountain Park / Lory State Park. See Fort Collins Trail Runners for more details
March:
24 – Trail Running Film Fest – co-hosted with Fort Collins Running Club. Fort Collins. Come be inspired by a 2 hour selection of short films (2-20min/ea) from trail running videographers around the globe! Ticket sales benefit the Colorado Association of Trail Stewards. Minimum donation $5 per ticket.
Saturdays – Quad Rock Training Runs.
April:
13 – Horsetooth Half Marathon (road). Fort Collins. Join 2,000 of your closest friends for a point-to-point adventure on the scenic hills of Centennial Drive before diving downtown for the finish and party at New Belgium Brewery.
19 – Quad Rock Preview Run. Fort Collins. Run the race course in part or whole in your final build to race day. Free & all are welcome. Gnar provides burgers, fixin’s and drinks; potluck for sides.
Saturdays – Quad Rock Training Runs.
May:
10 – Quad Rock 50/25mi (trail). Fort Collins. A Colorado classic with vert galore, amazing aid stations & post-race BBQ.
17 – Lory State Park Spring Trail Workday. Fort Collins. Earn your dirt! Help get the trails ready before the busy summer season.
June:
28-29 – Never Summer Training & Trail Work Weekend. Gould. Options for runs & trail work both days, community camping and (fingers crossed) campfire!
TBD – Never Summer Training Runs & Course Clearing. Gould. Runs can be a bit more DIY, but there’ll be someone traipsing around up there any given weekend. See Fort Collins Trail Runners. Course clearing = deadfall = chainsaws. Generally small, dedicated crews on weekdays – email Nick/Brad if interested.
July:
25-27 – Never Summer 100k & 60k (trail). Gould. A real mountain race. Come prepared! Friday 60k, Saturday 100k (and a fantastic community breakfast on Sunday). Camping on-site.
August:
5 – Lory Summer Trail Series Valley 5k (trail). Fort Collins. Annual Tuesday night series, beginner friendly & no-frills. Pizza, beer & cookies when you finish. 🙂
12 – Lory Summer Trail Series Hilly 10k (trail). Fort Collins.
16-17 – Red Feather Trail Jamboree Training & Trail Work Weekend. Red Feather Lakes. One day of running, one day of trail work. Free camping & relaxation. Probably popsicles.
19 – Lory Summer Trail Series Hilly 5k (trail). Fort Collins.
23 – Staunton Rocks! Marathon & Half (trail). Pine. Awesome trails, generous cut-offs, burgers, beer & summer mountain weather.
26 – Lory Summer Trail Series Valley 12k (trail). Fort Collins.
September:
6 – Black Squirrel Half Marathon (trail). Fort Collins. Go up, go down, go flat, you’re done! Classic perimeter loop of Lory State Park with breakfast when you finish.
13 – Lory State Park Fall Trail Workday. Fort Collins. Earn your dirt! Help prep the trails so they’re ready for the winter moisture.
20 or 21 – Blue Sky Marathon & Half Preview Run. Fort Collins. A fun morning with folks who know the trails and cold drinks waiting for you in the parking lot after.
26-28 – Red Feather Trail Jamboree (trail). Red Feather Lakes. We love this one. 50mi Friday, 50k Saturday, Half Marathon Sunday (or run all 3!). On-site camping + cabins, full dining hall with made-from-scratch meals, live music, kids run, shower house, lawn games, MOOSE!
October:
11 – Long View Marathon, Half & 5k (road). Fort Collins/Loveland. Ever run from one city to another? Go point-to-point from Fort Collins to Loveland, have some pancakes, and ride a shuttle back!
18-19 – Blue Sky Marathon & Half (trail). Fort Collins. The original Fort Collins classic. Marathon Saturday, Half Marathon Sunday. Smooth dirt (except where it ain’t!) and generous cut-offs.
November:
1-2 – Colorado 24 Hour Run (dirt road). Fort Collins. The most scenic flat one-mile loop in Colorado, held on a private nature retreat. 24 Hour, 12 Hour, 6 Hour + Relays. And we mean 1mi – this USATF certified course is 1.0003mi. Hot food & drinks all day & night.
December:
31 – Resolution Run 5k (road). Fort Collins. Run out the old year, and welcome the new! A family-friendly 5K with hot cocoa & glow sticks. Dog- & stroller-friendly.
Plus there’s always plenty more happening, especially in conjunction with Fort Collins Running Club. From social runs to movie nights to campouts to trail crew leader classes to you name it, there’s so many ways to enjoy the trails – and we want to be a part of them all!
