COVID Protocols: 2021

We officially have an approved safety plan for this year’s race from Larimer County Public Health. While things will be less strict than last year (welcome back post-race BBQ!), we will still have a number of safety protocols in place.

Highlights:

  • Masks will still be required for all attendees, except when 1) running and 2) eating/drinking
  • Aid Stations will continue to be single-serving for food, zero-contact for fluids, and you must mask up if staying more than a quick minute
  • Our Post-Race BBQ is a go, but we ask everyone to social distance, and mask up when not actively chowing down
  • We WILL be able to start both races in their normal format – all 50mi runners at 5:30a, all 25mi runners at 7:00a

Please note that folks who fall under or live with someone in the following categories should carefully consider the risks of participating in group events during the ongoing pandemic:

  • Over the age of 65
  • Those with chronic lung disease, moderate to severe asthma, or severe heart disease
  • Immunocompromised: those who have undergone or are undergoing cancer treatment, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV/AIDS, or prolonged use of corticosteroids
  • Anyone diagnosed with the following underlying conditions: diabetes, liver disease, and persons with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis

Travel

Camping

Backcountry spots are available at Lory State Park.

Campsites with facilities are available at the south end of Horsetooth Reservoir, approximately 10 miles from the start. These book out way in advance, so plan accordingly.

The closest developed camping is at the KOA off 287, adjacent to Hwy 14/Poudre Canyon.

Hotels

There are a multitude of hotels for every budget in Fort Collins, and any within city limits will be no more than a 20-30 minute drive from the start.

Race day often falls on the same day at Colorado State University’s commencement, which can make availability accommodations tight. If you can, book as far ahead as possible.
