Course Description

We hope for close-to-normal conditions on race day, as related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Current race information reflects a normal year.  Details may change as race day approaches, and any changes will be communicated to registered runners well in advance.  For reference, here are the 2020 COVID Safety Protocols.

The Black Squirrel Trail Half Marathon will start and finish at the Soldier Canyon picnic area in Lory State Park to the northwest of Fort Collins, CO.

Runners will head south on Lodgepole Drive and loop back north on the main Lory service road to the Timber trailhead where they will enter the Timber Trail and ascend all the way to the Westridge trail.

The course takes a right on Westridge, looping around to connect with the Howard trail, which runners will take down to the Arthurs Rock link tail and to the Arthurs trailhead. From there the course will run south on the West Valley trail until it connects with the East Valley trail on the border of Horsetooth Mountain Park. Runners will then head north on the East Valley trail through the Arthurs Rock trailhead again, all the way back to the finish.
